Melodic Composition coming home

Greetings!
This week you should see a homework assignment come home from the music room. This is a melodic composition assignment where students needed to use previously learned information to complete. The pitch set of mi and sol was a review from 1st Grade. It is being used as a diagnostic assessment.

Please:
1. have your child perform it for you with light claps and rhythm language
2. sign the paper
3. make sure your student returns it to the music room for credit.

Turning in Homework

When your Student turns in their homework this year, they will need to make sure it gets in the correct folder for their class. Please go over this with your child before you send the work back to school with them. It is VERY important that they place it in the correct folder to receive credit for their work. See the Photos below for an example of what this looks like. Thanks!!

music homework on it’s way

Parents –
This week you should see TWO music papers come home. On one of them, your child had to write down a known song in high/low language, then sing it and write it on the staff lines. The other assignment was one where your child had to create their own high/low composition, then sing it and write it on the staff lines. Both of these were summative assessment pieces in our study of Sol and Mi.

Please take a minute to listen to your child sing both papers, then sign it and return it to school for credit. If you have any questions, let me know.

I have also attached both assignments to this email in case you do not see them come home.

2 assignments coming home-rhythm and melody

Parents –
You should see 2 assignments come home today or next week. One of them is a melodic study we did with High and Low singing last month where the students used strategies to make up their own songs for 16 beats. The other one is a rhythmic composition they created after learning about the quarter rest (a silent beat).

Please take a moment to look over the work, talk to your child about what they did, and have them perform it for you.

Make sure you sign it and have your child return it to the music room for credit.

Homework

Parents –
You should see a music assignment come home this week. This assignment was a formal attempt by your child to create his/her own rhythmic composition. We used walk and jogging concepts from last year to help us create these songs

Before you sign the paper, please have your child:
– Clap the correct rhythm
– Say the rhythm with rhythm language (Walk & Jogging)
